And then I skipped breakfast
Psych!! You know I would never do that… or at least I would never ADMIT to that. LOL
Breakfast is by far the most important meal of the day. I’m pretty sure we all know that by now. So, why is it that so many are still skipping it?!! The most common answers I hear: I’m not hungry for breakfast and I don’t have time. While we live in a very “it’s my way”, fast-paced world breakfast is still a must. So let’s tackle these two common “problems”.
I’m not hungry for breakfast.
First of all, YOU may not be hungry but your body is absolutely starving and needs fuel to function. Our bodies are these amazing machines that will make adjustments to what we consistently do. So, if you consistently skip breakfast… it {your body} will figure out how to function without it. This means, it shuts down your metabolism (kiss losing weight good-bye) and, even worse, it hangs on to what you do eat because it’s stocking up for the next famine which will be happening in T-minus 8 hours. In addition, your body shuts down, or rather delays, it’s hunger mechanism signaling you that it’s time to eat…. which is why you no longer feel hunger in the morning. Bottom line – eat breakfast my friends… even if you don’t feel hungry.
I don’t have time.
Wow! I know this all too well. Staying up late and sleeping in as long as possible with the last minute rush to actually shower and make myself presentable. Breakfast… what’s that?!! Here’s the rub… while I totally understand, it’s still not OK to skip breakfast. Find something that works for you. I personally LOVE these shakes that are low-glycemic, non-GMO, balanced and scientifically proven to help maintain weight. Shake it and go. Or try this option that commonly finds it’s way across my plate. 🙂
